High-volume CNC machined parts with sandblasted and anodized finishes, plus a small quantity of laser-cut thin sheets.
Challenge 1:Sandblasting and anodizing defects occurred during mass production that did not appear in the sample orders, including watermarks, scratches, and color variations after anodizing.
Solution 1: Since the responsibility primarily lies with our factory and the order value is significant, we have independently absorbed the additional costs to create customized fixtures, instructed production staff to promptly wipe off chemicals after anodizing, and produced an extra quantity to ensure the number of high-quality finished products meets the total order requirement.
Result 1: The customized fixtures significantly reduced the number of defects, achieving a production yield rate of over 95%. After communicating with the client, we also sold them the extra high-quality parts that were produced as a precaution, resulting in a satisfied response from the client.
Challenge 2: Due to the structural grooves in the CNC parts that require significant milling, also the thin thickness of the laser-cut products, there was an issue with deformation after sandblasting and anodizing, which resulted in the flatness failing to meet the customer’s standards.
Solution 2 and Result 2: We engaged a long-term partner company specializing in machine-based flatness correction to assist us. Although the correction process resulted in some defective products, it significantly improved the deformation issues for the majority of the parts.
Challenge 3: The customer’s order specifies a requirement for the effective thread length, and during production, we discovered that some of the threads being machined did not meet the required effective thread length.
Solution 3 and Result 3: Our workers worked overtime for three nights to conduct a full inspection of all threaded products. We performed installation tests using electric screwdrivers and the M4×0.8 thread requested by the customer. For those with insufficient thread length, we re-tapped the holes with a tap to ensure that the customer would not encounter any assembly issues upon receiving the products.
Challenge 4: Due to the original design of the thin laser-cut parts lacking hanging points, and the customer’s requirement for a mark-free surface, the parts could not be processed effectively.
Solution 4 and Result 4: After communicating with the customer, we modified their original design to include small additional tabs, which were used as hanging points during the sandblasting and anodizing process. Once the processing was complete, our workers manually removed these extra tabs and carefully sanded the areas to ensure a perfect appearance. The customer was highly satisfied with the final structure and specifically commended our flexibility and problem-solving ability.
